Registry problems are among the biggest contributors to PC performance problems. The Windows registry is where software programs and hardware store important information about settings and configuration that Windows needs in order to run properly. When you use your computer, Windows uses the registry constantly so it can keep all your programs and settings straight. Problems occur when Registry pointers get messed up or point to software which no longer exists. This can occur due to remnants left behind on your registry from failed installations, incomplete un-installations, disabled drivers, and spyware applications. Cleaning the Registry is probably the fastest and easiest way to restore your PC to the way it used to run when it was new.

RegCure has been made very easy to load and install. It isn't a large program, so it's pretty fast to download and install. Anyone with a modicum of PC expertise can perform this task quite quickly with no problems. Downloading is straightforward - you have a choice of running the setup immediately or saving the file for later installation. A Setup Wizard handles all the installation tasks for you.

RegCure was designed to be simple to operate. Once the program is loaded, a screen pops up, offering five buttons on the left hand side, each one of which controls a major group of functions within RegCure. The interface is clean, modern and uncomplicated. The five buttons are labelled Scan, Settings, Backup, Manage Startup, and Results and each of them does exactly what the label says.
The Scan button opens a screen which enables you to control what type of scan is to be performed. You can choose the items which you want to scan and these cover items such as Com/ActiveX entries, Application Paths and Empty Registry keys among others. While scanning, a running total of problems is displayed along with the details of which entries have these problems.
The Settings button enables the user to create a system restore point for rolling the system back to a known good point, to check for updates automatically, to setup an ignore list of items and to control when scans are schedules.
The Backup button activates a restore of a previously saved registry, thus allowing the user to revert to a previous version of the Registry.
The Manage Startup button is a very useful tool which allows you to choose which applications are launched when you start up your computer. In many cases, there are applications activated during startup which are not only unnecessary and superfluous, but which increase the time required to get your PC up and running. Disabling these will make your boot up time faster.
Finally, the Results page shows you the problem items which were found in each category.

RegCure's main features include the following:
- Vista compatible: RegCure now works with the latest Microsoft operating system, Microsoft Windows Vista.
- Custom scans: you can customize how RegCure scans your registry by selecting only the items you want to be scanned. There is a list of registry items that you can check or clear during the scanning process.
- Automatic scanning with the scheduling tool: with RegCure you can create schedules so that a registry scan is done automatically. Using the schedule feature you can set more than one schedule to run daily, weekly, monthly, at system startup, and more.
- Selection and removal: You can choose which items RegCure has detected after it completes the registry scan. In the last step of the process, you can clear the items that you do not want removed.
- Ignore list: RegCure offers you the ability to ignore items that have been detected after the registry is scanned. In this way these items will be ignored for subsequent scans. There is an ignore list that you can manage should you want to have these items scanned and removed in the future.
- Automatic repair: RegCure offers you the ability to perform an automatic repair of detected items after a scan. You can configure the settings so that a repair of detected items occurs after each scan.
- Backup and restore: An automatic backup is created every time you use RegCure. You can restore the items that were removed.
- Startup management: RegCure offers quick and easy access to all the programs that are launched when you start your computer. You can enable and disable applications in the Manage Startup list.

RegCure is a very effective registry cleaner. We managed to cut bootup time on our test PC by running a full scan which produced 558 errors on the machine we were using. After fixing the errors, the bootup time was reduced from 4 minutes 27 second to just over 2 minutes. We could probably have reduced this time even further by disabling certain start up programs, but we were sufficiently impressed by the registry cleaning alone.
Remember that cleaning your registry is not a cure-all for all that ails your PC (you need anti-malware and firewall protection as a bare minimum to protect you) but regular use of a good registry cleaner such as Regcure will assist your PC to perform at peak efficiency.

There is an option which will check for RegCure updates automatically. It's recommended that this be enabled to keep the program at the latest version. You can also request Regcure to inform you before it downloads the update.
